Artist of the Month

Durga Prasad Bandi

“I am interested in expressing the obscure nature of human life.” Durga Prasad is mainly recognized for his ‘black’ theme that runs instantaneously through his works. Underlying the artist’s images is a sense of unease and concern about the social situation, the communication of this is a major consideration for this sensitive artist. Born in 1985 Pallamkurru, Andhra Pradesh, Durga Prasad studied his masters in visual arts from the M.S.University of Vadodara and specialized in the printmaking graphics of art. His techniques include the drypoints, etchings and aquatints. The artist wishes to create an ambiguity between the real and mysterious things, thereby showing the relation between the man and the universe. Durga Prasad’s choice of themes translate into the usage of dark colours and contrasts. Not limiting himself to his artworks and refusing to restrict himself to his canvas, Durga Prasad strives to reach out to the masses. He tries to understand the kind of emotions a common man goes through and expresses the same in his artworks. His work reflects their angst and miseries.
